Beaches

  • Hollywood Beach.  Yup, the Tides is located right on this beach.  Famous for its convenient location, beautiful beaches and high rise hotels and luxurious towers such as the Westin Diplomat, Hollywood Trump Tower, and Ocean club. Walk a few minutes south and you will find yourself on Hallandale beach.  A few minutes north, you have the famous Hollywood Boardwalk.

  • Dania Beach.  Great for those who want to do some fishing off the pier.

  • Fort Lauderdale Beach.  Located just 30 minutes north of Hollywood, great location.

  • Miami South Beach.  Located just 30 minutes south from Hollywood, it is one of the busiest beaches in Florida.  Great choice for night life

  • Haulover Park. For those who prefer a clothing optional beach

  • Sunny Isles Beach. Beautiful beach and lots to do

 

Transportation

  • Most of the visitors to the Tides choose to drive, primarily because the parking at the Tides is fairly inexpensive and with many things to do and see in Florida.  But for those who prefer to vacation at the Tides without driving, you are not alone (10%).  The Tides is on the beach after all, which offers great pools, amenities and even has a restaurant on first floor. Nearby, there are good choices of restaurants and Super WalMart (for groceries) is a short 5 minute walk.  In terms of alternate modes of transportation you have the following options:

  • Taxi / Uber

    • Tides to Fort Lauderdale (FLL): Uber X:  $16-21, Uber XL $31-39, Taxi: $35-40

    • Tides to Miami airport (MIA): Uber X:  $25-35, Uber XL $40-60, Taxi: $55-70

  • Car rentals. It is often cheaper to rent a car directly from the airport. But if you would need to rent a car while at the Tides, Hertz Rent-a-car has an office right by the Westin Diplomat.

  • Hollywood Trolly. An economical and convenient way to travel from the Tides to the Hollywood Boardwalk, and to downtown Hollywood. Once costs $1 per person per direction.

  • Water Taxi. Offers a wonderful way to sight-see the waterways, marinas and mansions from Hollywood all the way to Fort Lauderdale. The fares range from $12 for children and $26 for adults.  The water taxi stop is just across the street from the Tides, located on the canal side just behind the Crown Plaza Hollywood hotel.

 

Shopping

  • Aventura Mall: 5-8 min drive

  • Oakwood Plaza: 10 min dirve

  • Sawgrass Mills: 40 min drive

  • Bal Harbor Shops:

 

Restaurant popular areas

  • Gulfstream. Many restaurants, casino, and racetracks all in one.

  • Downtown Hollywood. Big choice of restaurants and bars

  • Hollywood Boardwalk

  • Sunny Isles

  • Racetrack, horses / greyhounds (5 min to Gulfstream)

  • Alligator airboat tours (30 min)

  • Fishing (10 min to Dania beach)

  • Hard Rock Stadium (20 min) – home of the Miami Dolphins football team

  • Marlins Park (35 min) – home of the Florida Marlins baseball team

  • BB&T Center (30 min) – home of the Florida Panthers hockey team
